Site "fixes"

I've dropped and recreated this site in order to correct a long standing bug. For some months now, clicking a link (E.G.: the forum link) has been a bit of a crapshoot- sometimes it works, sometime it bounces you back to the index page.

I think I may (??) have it fixed now. I've had to disable one block- the random photos block for pictures from the gallery. Hopefully I'll have that back again soon.

Out with the old, in with the new

I've disabled the news feed for Final Fantasy since...well, frankly, since I don't know if anyone here is actually even playing it FFXI Online anyway.

In its place, I've added a countdown timer, currently counting down to EverQuest 2. I'm also on the lookout for a good EQ2 news feed...so far, I haven't found a good one...but I'm still looking.

UPDATE: I now have a working news feed, using the headlines from the official EverQuest 2 home page. Enjoy!

Final Fantasy Online news feed activated

I've added a news feed on the main site for Final Fantasy Online. It comes from Warcry- I'm not sure how good their news items are: let me know if you find it useful!

Riodan Resurrected for the first time...

I'm playing Final Fantasy now and am finding that I like it. I want to send out a special thanks to my higher level Bushinami Linkshell compatriots who came out this past Saturday and "baby sat" our little group.

Between Crysis saving me from Goblins attacking from behind and Pikcolo (sp) resurrecting me after being killed by Goblin handgrenades from in front, I think I owe folks about 10 lives. Thanks all! It was a blast!

Whoa...Shane is playing a character in Final Fantasy Online. Be afraid, little taru taru, be very afraid...

Welcome to the ''new'' Solstice Website

I've refreshed the design and added forums. This location on the Internet is dedicated to a group of folks who have gamed, laughed, and snarled at each other through thick and thin for several years. Here we can talk about the games and topics that interest us, and keep in touch. Who knows, one day we may even be playing the same game again! Welcome to the new site!

As with my past attempts to "refresh" things here, I need your help to keep this site fresh. There are links on the top of this page for submitting news: if something interests you and you want to "announce" it to the world, click that link. Shortly I'll be putting another clicky on the top of the page for "Web Links"- again, you can submit any links you think are interesting by clicking that and seeking out the "submit a new link" clicky.

It keeps getting better...: I've added a "Recent posts" block, updated the Random picture section, and added a clicky for "Web Links"...time for lunch ;-)

EQ: Gates of Discord coming in March

EverQuest's latest expansion, Gates of Discord, is likely to be released sometime in March.

This new expansion will add "instanced" dungeons to the game. That is, some dungeons (about 10 of the 20 in the expansion) will create unique copies of themselves for each group of people that enter. This feature isn't exactly "new": mission terminals in Anarchy Online, for example, do exactly the same thing. But it might be a welcome breath of fresh air for people tired of camping...

SOE to offer ''all titles'' access package

I came across this news item regarding an "all access" subscription for SoE games. The basic premise is that, for one fee, you can have access to all of the online games Sony Online owns (Everquest, PlanetSide, EverQuest II, EverQuest Online Adventures...). Apparently, the price will be $21.99 U.S.: not bad for all those titles

Unfortunately, this does not include Star Wars Galaxies, which Sony doesn't "own".

Changes to news feeds...

After largely ignoring this page for the past few weeks, I've decided to make a few changes.

I've removed the AC2HQ feed from this page: it wasn't working anyway. I'm adding a Blues News feed (general gaming information). And I'm working on both a replacement EverQuest feed (since the Allakhazaam feed was so buggy) and a new Star Wars Galaxies feed. It may take me a while to get the latter two set up, but keep an eye opened here.
