Riodan Resurrected for the first time...
General News I'm playing Final Fantasy now and am finding that I like it. I want to send out a special thanks to my higher level Bushinami Linkshell compatriots who came out this past Saturday and "baby sat" our little group.

Between Crysis saving me from Goblins attacking from behind and Pikcolo (sp) resurrecting me after being killed by Goblin handgrenades from in front, I think I owe folks about 10 lives. Thanks all! It was a blast!

Star Wars Galaxies release delayed
General News A heads up to everyone who is impatiently waiting for Star Wars Galaxies. SoE and Lucas Entertainment have decided to delay the game's release (originally slated for some time in April).

There is no new release date and, since they have also decided to delay the third phase of beta, it seems likely that the delay will be several months.

Gamers aren't just geeks...
General News I found this article, a reprint of one on Neenerneener.net, on Allakhazaam's EQ site. Basically, its about a gamer like you or I who loves his wife, who is also a gamer. And its about the disease she has, Multiple Sclerosis. The fellow, Kwip, just happens to both be a gamer and the author of a website of game related humour. And he is asking for gamers...

Why people quit MMOGs...
General News I followed a link today to the Daedalus Project website. This guy is doing reasonably scientific research into various aspects of MMOGs, and some of it is very interesting to me.

The best report I read there so far was Why We Quit, which gives some excellent insight into why the average player throws in the towel...

Crash of the Columbia...
General News I believe in the manned space program. To me, there is no more noble cause, no more powerful statement of what mankind can achieve, what we should achieve, than the exploration of space. This sentiment is firmly entrenched in my heart, my soul, and my mind.

Today the Space Shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry. Seven astronauts died. I grieve for them, and for their families. The loss of these special people will be felt for some time to come.

The women and men who make the exploration of space their lives are truly a rare and special breed. In this day and age when sports stars and rock singers can be "heroes", I feel totally justified in calling the crews, past, present and future, of the space program my heroes.

I still believe in the manned space program, more so than ever. These people go where I can not. They carry my dreams with them on every flight. In my mind, there could be no greater tragedy than to let the loss of the Columbia crew impede or slow our inevitable reach into space.

I am not a religious person, so I will not offer prayer. But my thoughts and feelings go out to the friends and families of the crew of Columbia. May they find relief in the knowledge that the pilots and payload specialists of that ship died doing something few of us can: they were living their dream.
